New to this forum. We’ve had our hamster for 3 months and she was acting normal on Saturday and Sunday but didn't come out at night on Monday and Tuesday night. We were able to wake her up today, Wednesday morning and she ate a bit and let us hold her but she was lethargic. Later today Wednesday she is laying in a ball under her bedding and breathing slowly. We did have a colder night temp but it didn’t go below 62 in the house. Could this be torpor? Is she ill? What can we do?

I'm sorry to hear this. It doesn't sound like torpor if the temperature was ok like that (62 fahrenheit is about 16 degrees centigrade). It does sound like she is unwell. Unfortunately this does happen with some young hamsters, depending on the breeding background - they can be born with a congenital problem and sadly some die young. It is probably best to take her to the vets for a checkover to see if there is anything they can do. I do hope they can.

Hopefully it will be something they can help with.

I am very sorry to hear this, it‘s very upsetting when you don’t know what’s wrong with them. I hope she recovers fast and will keep fingers crossed 🌺
