That is the worry, that people mess about on the advertising pagesOh yes that is a long way! I have exactly the same issue. I was going to adopt from the Pets at Home adoption centre when I couldn't find a hamster to rescue but they didn't have any to adopt either! I looked over 60 miles away and none in the adoption centres in my area! In the end both mine came from ethical NHC breeders. There were just no Syrians or Robos in my area. It would actually have been quicker and easier for me to get a train to London to adopt, rather than drive East or West for 100 miles! I didn't think of that at the time though.
I tried looking at Pets4Homes for ages but some were old ads that hadn't been taken down or the hamster was taken in by a rescue before I enquired - ie nothing available. And some people just messed about!
