Good morning Teddy! What a treat (for me) to wake up and see Teddy's cute face.

Such a short time but you gave him so much love and saved him from further sufferingThe next thing I wanted to talk about today was my rainbow bridge cats
Onslow
Onlow was adopted from a local rescue centre in February 2019. He had been taken to the sanctuary in a cardboard box after been found straying at the bottom of a garden in a cement mixer. He was actually listed as not suitable for children but he hadn't had much interest and the rescue said it was just because he hadn't met any and we were welcome to meet him. The meeting went well (he didn't really leave his hidey bed) and his adoption date was set for valentines day. I'd never had a cat before but within 48hours of bringing him home I knew something was really wrong
he wasn't shy at all in a home environment he was jumping in our beds and in our hearts from the first day but he hadn't touched his food. So I whisked him off to the vets where we discovered he was likely not 4 as the rescue had predicted but likely more like 14 and he had severe gum infection and his few remaining teeth were completely rotten so he needed a dental to remove all teeth
we did his dental but that was just the start of his problems
we went on to find he was autoimmune and even worse that he had lymphoma. When he was hospitalised for the biopsy he was fitted with a feeding tube, unfortunately he regurgitated and inhaled some of his vomit and was also diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia. They didn't expect him to survive but he did, a few days into his recovery was when we got the lymphoma result. We kept trying with him but when we'd had him just 4.5 months, when his vomit was completely black we knew we had to let him go
. Onslow was the absolute sweetest boy and the biggest fighter and he taught me so much. Days before his hospitalisation he laid guarding the girls as they got chicken pox one by one. Despite how poorly he was himself he never left their sides. Onslow taught me that sometimes you have to pack a lifetime of love into a few short months. He taught me that tomorrow is never promised and life is fragile. He was my then 1 year olds bestest friend, she still blows kisses to the sky nearly 5 years later and talks about him every day. Onslow was also my first experience of grief
I still miss and love him so much but I'm so thankful that we had him in our lives even if the time was too short
