Ha ha. Doesn't look too bad :) He is maybe well and truly scent marking it!

Been catching up here Beryl. It’s a great thread to follow and enjoy- thank you so much!

Lilly just got up to look for treats and disappeared again. I was hoping she'd come out during the day so i can do some spot cleaning but Lilly had other plans.

Eddie didn't want to come out either. Saw him in the morning and the tip of his nose in the afternoon. I'm so glad he likes his home.

Clive's out and running around on the floor. Must go and put the toys out.

The leaf shaped one? Dunelm i think and the round one is from a reptile shop.

I hid a treat high up on the round hut. Didn't take her long to find it. Just went back in for some dwarf toys and there she was, crunching away.

Clive's in the playbin in the soil dig box.

They are both great bowls. Clever Lilly finding her treat so quickly.

Aww hello Clive.

Hello busy Lilly :) She is so vigorous and energetic isn't she? Hello Clive. Clive looks like he's on an elevator :D

Lilly is so active! My daughter would love a winter white one day, but it will depend if we can find one in the future (not near future). I don't see them much in the Midwest U.S. We have a Syrian ethical breeder nearby, but other than that we'd have to look for rescues or rely on pet stores.

Lilly isn't a winter white. She's a rescue dwarf hybrid.

I did have a lovely pedigree winter white called Gertie who was a hamster retired from breeding. She had been used for breeding all her life and i wanted to give her the chance to be loved for herself. Sadly, she died at only 13 months old.

Sorry clacombe, i misread your post. Your daughter would like a winter white one day which doesn't mean that you assumed that Lilly was one.

Lilly is out now and has the whole space to herself. All the boys are in their nests. She run straight into the playbin.
Oh wow, she's racing around like a wind up toy with those short little legs.
It's too dim in here to video.

Aww she is so happy! How adorable. You must really enjoy watching her play.

She's lovely. Sometimes i hold her close to my ear to feel her buzzing. She vibrates with energy.

I did sort of assume she was a winter white. 😆 but we like dwarfs of all kinds! I'm still trying to master the differences between the smaller dwarf species. I haven't looked into rescues around us, but there is one pet store that will take in pets people no longer want, so they do occasionally have hamsters that are considered rescues.

The advantage of getting a hamster from a rescue is that they know the personality and temperament of the hamster which makes it easier to find one who is awake the same time as your daughter.
Unlike Syrians who have more of a routine, dwarfs are often morning or daytime hamsters.

Pet shops with adoption tanks don't usually get to know the hamsters but organisations and charities do.

I’ve just been catching up on your thread and had a good chuckle at Clive hoovering up the left over food, Hams would so do this too. Fabulous that Eddie is settling in so well and always great to see Lilly hamstering around at speed, she’s such a character 😊

There's some info on the home page about the different dwarf species :-) Also have a look at the comments underneath the Species article - more chat there about the differences.
