Amazon has Niteangel pedometer

Oh Wow! Thanks for linking that Maz. Definitely something to add to the wish list😃
It‘d be fascinating to know how far they run at night

It only works with Niteangel wheels apparently. But yes it would be fascinating! In fact if we all had one we could have hamster races weekly ha ha. See who ran the furthest.

Ooh exciting. I love how on the first video you put him on the wheel and he decides to get off again and sit under it! Then both gerbils jump on it and look like they're about to start running in opposite directions!

The second video he looks cute and enjoying it.

Does Leo have a nitangel wheel as well? ie will you be trying it for him too?

I did buy a Niteangel wheel for Leo but he hasn't been able to use it yet as he's not in his Savic Plaza yet (hopefully soon). It would take some rearranging to get it into his current cage and since he's not the most tolerant of change (to put it lightly), I wanted to do the whole thing in one go. I'm excited to find out how far he runs at night once he is in the Plaza with the new wheel.

The brown gerbil, Twiglet, isn't as active as Astra so she tends to just take a few steps on the wheel here and there. Astra does most of the running. So far they haven't mastered the art of running together!

I loved the videos. The second one made me laugh 🤣 The way she kept stopping and looking at you. I was wondering if she was looking for approval for running on the wheel.

It wasn't this gerbil, but I did have a gerbil once who I had to teach to run on the wheel by holding a treat in front of her, so that she would take a few steps forward and thus learn how it worked. For the rest of her life she'd always run in bursts of a couple of seconds before stopping to look around and I always thought she was wondering when the treat was going to appear.
They are comical little things. Do they always hop when they run?
Yes, that's their natural gait :)
