Are chewing blocks safe?

My Mom was at the pet store and bought Widgi some colored blocks by ware pet products. They are just simple wood blocks to chew. Can I give him some or are they a bad idea?

They should be ok - but it depends what wood it is and if it says they are edible colours etc. Do you have a photo?
