Due to the heat wave we are having. I was looking for hamster cooling ideas. I've saw this on amazon. Is this a good thing or should I look for a tile?

I haven't seen those before :-) I'm not too sure actually and think something ceramic or terracotta would be better, as they are naturally cooler. As it's quite low as well, it's possible it could get too cold at the top with ice in it maybe? I can't tell if it's plastic or metal, but both materials tend not to be as naturally cool as ceramic or terracotta, even with ice in a section.

There is actually a bucatstate ceramic hide which is taller and has a lift off compartment to put a small ice pack in (rather than ice cubes, which melt). But it keeps going out of stock! (Unsurprisingly).

Is it for a dwarf or syrian hamster? Either way, one of the simplest solutions is just use a ceramic mug on its side that has been in the fridge cooling. Two ceramic mugs interchanged - while one is in use, the other can be in the fridge, then swap them over.

Looks quite a nice idea but the hole won’t be big enough for a Syrian hamster 🐹

I was wondering this too! It's so hot atm! Welcome any ideas. Gave chum a nice cool bit of blueberry when he came out last night and making sure water fresh just before he comes out so nice and cool.

Any ceramic hide is usually popular, and you can put a bag of frozen peas eg on top of the enclosure to help cool things down.

I still think a ceramic mug from the fridge works well 😊. On its side - the handle stops it rolling over. Or a terracotta plant pot on its side.
