Bobi!!

Thank you all! I’ve just remembered we don’t actually know Bobi’s birthday but when we adopted her they said she was might born in April or May 2024, so I guess It’s been her birthday recently. We will “celebrate” just the gotcha day anyways. But here’s a picture of the girl! She’s not a baby anymore 🥺
Bobi is absolutely adorable, all of these pictures are just way too cute! Happy birthday Bobi, here's to many more fun adventures

I think Maz said that he loves to see hamster hoards. This is Bobi’s. I didn’t clean it since it look and smelled nice and she even had sunflower seeds which she LOVES. So I felt bad for her.

Huge clean cage done✅

It's amazing! Thank you. So she's been clean and tidy then :-)

After an amazing wedding and honeymoon, we came back on Monday. We missed Bobi and we felt like she missed us too! She was interested in us, these days she’s bitting less than she often does, she tries to climb to our hands and arms… 🥰

I was a bit afraid that she had any health issue since she’s been prone to have issues in her eyes but she’s totally fine!! She also enjoyed fresh veggies since she’s wasn’t having as much when my mother in law took care of her.

We’ve finally needed to change her wheel because before leaving it wasn’t working well, we tried to fix it but we couldn’t, so it’s been 12€ well invested.

Also, it’s getting very very hot in Barcelona, everyday temperatures of 30 degrees so we try to put the air conditioning (even though bills are so expensive!) and using ice packs over the cage…

But… we’re happy to get back home after this amazing experience!

Hello and glad you had a wonderful time! That is such an adorable photo of Bobi - I bet she is really happy you're back. So is it anothet trixie wheel but the pinky orange colour? I hope this one lasts a long time! I've had the odd one for a few years with no issues.

I am daydreaming about it being hot in Barcelona :ROFLMAO: It's very nice. But also can be hot for hammies as you say. Presumably just having the air conditioning on for a bit each day will help keep it cool for a while? Rather than all the time?

The weather is actually quite nice here in the Uk at the moment as well :-)

Yeah! I don’t know which colour it’s worse! I wish they made it clear! And yeah, hopefully it lasts for more than just a few months as the other one :(

And yes we have the air conditioning some hours and then we use the ice packs 🥰

I actually really like that colour :ROFLMAO: But I know what you mean.

Good point - and actually, I don't know if you can get hold of it in Spain, but this Bucatstate hide is terracotta and has a lift off top with a space in it to put a small ice pack :-) But it's why it's so tall. And both my hammies love theirs to sit inside, and it it was placed so the top was near a level they can sit on top as well. It has a false roof inside between the top of the hide and the lift-off top with a gap between them so any ice pack isn't accessible to the hamster.

It doesn't seem to be available on Amazon at the moment (maybe sold out) - maybe available elsewhere?

Wow! I really liked the Bucatstate castle!! Bobi has this plate which should be cooler than the rest of the enclosure but in summer she uses the ceramic hideouts to sleep in. I would put them in the fridge to be cooler but she keeps seeds inside them and maybe can fall off:( when it gets even hotter I would do it anyways.

Oh those granite tiles are great - you can put them and ceramic hides in the fridge, but another alternative is add a ceramic mug on its side and leave the hide and tile as they are. Eg have two mugs you alternate in the fridge and swap them over now and then so one is always cool in the enclosure.

I haven’t used it with ice packs but if it gets really hot I might try a small bag of frozen peas inside it. But it has to be really hot for it to be felt inside our house which is quite cool inside generally.

Normal mugs? and put them like a hideout? I can’t imagine it at all hahahah And replying to the other comment: ice pack works great for us🥰 we use those that are made for portable camping fridges we usually bring to the beach with soda cans, always rolled up in a cloth

Yes just normal drinking mugs :-) Leave it in the fridge a few hours, pop it on it's side in the enclosure and it makes a cool ceramic hide to sit in. Using two mugs and swapping them over means one is in the fridge ready to swap with the one in the enclosure.
