Charlie Boy

Great videos 😃 fantastic speed pouching, he really is quick!

Aw Charlie is lovely. He clearly loves his tank!

So Charlie was in a mood this morning, I couldn't get his regular dry food so had to use another brand, well to show his disgust at it, he turned the bowl upside down and buried it, and proceeded to sit in his fresh food bowl on top of his salad leaves until tempted with a blueberry and a piece of cheese...! He then went and pouched his Bistro Salad and went to bed......!!!!!

Well he certainly made his feelings known!

Has Charlie been watching Gordon Ramsay? He acts like that to dishes of food too 😉

Charlie Update 15/03/23
So Charlie's behavior continues to baffle me, he is becoming a sedentary hamster he spends at least 90% of his time in his nest house, he seems to rarely use his wheel any more I've moved a few things around in his cage to hopefully stimulate him but he seems to ignore that.
One crazy thing he does is he gets into his cube ( another fave place of his) and has a vigorous cleaning session, when you watch him it looks like he is a washing machine as he keeps going round and around, I'll try to get a video of his madness and post a suitable link.
I'm experiencing the same thing with Wally in the past week! It took me a few days to notice that I wasn't remembering hearing his wheel at night. I started monitoring our camera, and he seems to have stopped using it over the past week. He spends most of his time in his nest, and just comes out a few times a night to explore the nooks and crannies of his cage, gather food, etc. When we see him before bed and sometimes take him out, he doesn't seems stressed or abnormal, but does appear to be more sedentary like Charlie. I'll be watching your thread to follow Charlie's journey and put in some updates about Wally. :D

Charlie Update,16/04/23
I may rename Charlie to Hermit, as he likes not to come out of his nest he stays put, comes out a couple of times for food and that's it, very occasionally he can be heard briefly on his wheel.
When I lift his house up he has packed the inside so much all there is, is a tiny space for him to curl up in, about the size of a tennis ball cut in half, I have to physically take out of his cage for some meanderings around the sofa and coffee table, he doesn't flinch or run away any more he is happy to be picked up and he does look a very handsome Ham indeed.

He certainly is a handsome little guy.
He sounds confident enough then if he’s comfortable with being picked up, just a quiet one then who likes to keep himself to himself mostly, I’ve had a couple like that.

You may like to get a camera to find out what Charlie gets up to when you are asleep. I have found out so much about what my hamster gets up to at night as I rarely see him too. :)

I used to tempt the quiet ones out with a bit of smelly food - cucumber or cheese - at the far end of a rat tunnel and put the other end over the door. And get them out of the cage that way. It has been quite cold though recently so maybe he'll come out more when it warms up a bit. My first hamster (also a Charlie) was a bit of a recluse too - but once he was out of the cage he was fine.

Another month has passed us by, Charlie is being Charlie he goes from being super active trying to run his wheel to death to doing bugger all apart from eating sleeping etc.
Some of the poses he does in his block aka tank turret reminds me very much of Grogu aka Baby Yoda with his wide spaced ears and little outstretched paw the force isn't strong in him though.

Aw :ROFLMAO: . Good to have an update about Charlie/baby Grogu. He sounds like either a shy or lazy boy! Maybe now it's lighter nights he'll come out a bit more. Have you done any out of cage taming with him? My first Charlie was reluctant to leave his house and needed tempting (viz "tricking"!) to get him out, but once he was out of the cage he was a completely different hamster.

So Charlie on one of his rare forays out his cage decided to use me as a climbing frame and rather liked the hood on my hoodie where he decided he would run round me neck and try to burrow into the hood... apologies for the poor picture quality he wouldn't stay still.....
