Hi! How long and what temperature do i ‘cook’ my cork log for please? I’ve washed it - surprisingly not filthy. It’s not fully round which I’m fine with, big hole in the middle so lots of ideas

Thank you

I just got a cork log and I put it in at 210 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes, waited, and then put it in again for another 45 minutes just to be safe! :) I'd say bake for at least an hour total though. I also turned my oven off and let it sit in there for a bit after that time was up.

However I would still recommend doing it at a time where you can watch it closely for safety since I'm sure we have slightly different types of ovens haha! I also put it on a baking tray instead of letting it sit in there by itself.

100 degrees centigrade for 30 to 40 minutes :-) Not sure what that is in fahrenheit! Any longer than about 45 minutes and it will start to smell a bit odd and burned. But that is all it needs to kill anything. With cork logs, rinse it in water before putting it in the oven and then it sort of steams rather than just bakes and doesn't get too dried out. I put mine straight on the oven rack (bars).
