Do dig boxes have to be deep?

A while ago, I asked for advice on what to put in a digbox, where I decided on beech chips. A lot of things have happened later and I ran out of money and got unwell. I'm still unwell, but the bag of beech chips lay near Topaç's cage and I want to actually prepare the dig box for him. The problem is that I had previously decided on a regular plastic container like his sand bath, but when I searched up 'hamster dig box', pictures of these transparent rectangles came up.

They look pretty enriching for a hamster but I couldnt fine anything like that in stores here. Im now thinking of either buying a container marketed as a sand bath(they usually have ramps) or buying regular container and making a diy ramp out of its lid. Im not sure about the second one.

A regular container will be fine. It doesn't have to be deep. I think most people scatter food and treats in the box and the hammy gets enrichment when he searches in the box for the treats. As long as he has enough regular bedding to make tunnels in, his dig box can be shallower.

He has about 24-25 cm bedding in most of the cage, but I dont know if he tunnels.
Although I have seen him emerge from under his toilet paper piece nest when I lifted the hide once.
