Yesterday evening, I was feeding Topaç treats and then he just sneezed for the first time since I got him. A few hours later, I heard him sneeze again when I was adding an egg carton toy in his cage. For context, I have been putting off vacuuming my room for a few days, so there has been some dust and bird feathers laying around. Could he have gotten a respiratory infection or is it just from the dust? He doesn't have any other symptoms. The vet isn't open yet, but I am considering taking him to the vet once it opens.

There is never any harm taking hammy to the vet for a check up if you are concerned, and the vet can listen to his heart rate and lungs to assess Topaç's health, and also check if his teeth are OK. But you could also vacuum and dust and see if he stops sneezing. Doing a health check is a good thing. If Topaç has crusty eyes or mucous coming from his nostrils these are signs of infection. Also signs of breathing effort, panting or having his sides go in and out much more than usual are signs of breathing problems. But if he is just normal he should be OK once you have aired the room and cleared up the dust ❤️

Has he just sneezed twice? Maybe it was adding the egg box that made him sneeze. If he sneezes again today, then yes it could be an idea to take him to the vet in case he's caught an infection. They can just have the odd sneeze for no reason sometimes, but it's always a slight concern.
