Doritos smell

just curious if you're able to give me an answer to a question i can't find an answer too.

with Sammy's last bedding it often would smell like doritos even after i did a full clean- a day later it's back to that smell. i haven't smelled it since i switched bedding brands; if it does make a return, what could it be? has anyone else had this issue? i even recleaned all his toys/wheel/etc.

Maybe it is Sammy's smell from scent marking. Sometimes my hamster smells like popcorn to me.

i absolutely adore you!!! you have calmed down my nerves with all your helpful answers. THANK YOU. i knew they do the scent marking- but in my panic i didn't think of any of that lol!! i was just worried that maybe he was being bothered with the smell.

i assumed this as well. then i changed the bedding brand/type and it is still around. but RainbowBrite helped a lot

I just cleaned Blossom out a couple of days ago, but within a day her cage was whiffy again. I've moved her back to her usual spot after taking the Christmas tree down. She's always a bit upset with any changes, so scent marking. She'll be back to normal by next week.
