Trying to keep this short Pete got out of his cage just before Christmas he escaped from his HH because I hadn't fastened his front door on the 2nd bar leaving a miniscule extra gap its quite a drop to the floor we think he shimmied down the curtain going across the unit hiding all the hamster paraphernalia we didn't know he was out free roaming all night until next morning when we went to his cage said the usual Good Morning Pete and he appeared from underneath the unit his cage stands on thank goodness we didn't step on him he came right up to my husbands slippers. Now he thinks he should free roam all the time and not even content with half the room cordoned off he trys everyway to get full use of the room which is kitchen dining and lounge all in one so we now block off under the cooker and anywhere else he could squeeze under that can't be safely moved and let him roam obviously we can't move from the sofa as we like to know where he is. I think he is what you would call ruling the roost fortunately he does come from under things if you shine a light ( he has a tendency to nod off under the bookcase ) and call him.

I that must have been scary! He's a cheeky little boy! He sounds very confident. Yes once they have free roamed, they want to keep doing it!

Oh my, Pete is a little tinker! thank goodness your home is pretty hamster proof and that he’s such a sociable little fella he simply appeared with your morning Hello. Can just imagine him doing a curtain shimmy 😆

I use a bulldog clip on one side of the front door just in case. I might get a cage clip, but the bulldog clip works well. Aka fold back clip. I ❤️ his tendency to nod off under the bookcase! He hasn't stolen the TV remote?
