To get my hand in a bit better, I tried making another cardboard multichamber. I shortened a very long, narrow box and reattached the end, then cut the roof so it has two overlapping flaps as a roof. It has a few chambers inside. One was part of the original box and fit without glue, the other is a box from tea bags and needed a bit of glue on the bottom. I cut doors into them before gluing! I was going to take pictures this morning as it got approved in the playpen last night and is now in the cage, but upon looking in, there is a sleeping hamster in the chamber furthest from the door. I need to add more bedding, but it seems to be a success! I will take pictures while Socks is in his playpen tonight!

It is a very simple creation and has been adopted with as much enthusiasm as my more ambitious MCH attempts! I suspect it may undergo some renovations before long!

Here is the modernist creation:
(I think I need to cut out some of the floor to allow Socks to access bedding)

Socks adjusted the floor of his old Quaker Oats box himself, but the cardboard this box is made from is a bit thicker, so I will need to at least start the floor renovations with a small hole and see if he add the rest himself.the

He fell asleep in it in the playpen last night so I put it and him into the cage to avoid waking him (he woke up anyway😄). I think he moved into the QO box during the day, possibly because it's a bit more insulated.

It's fun messing about. It's not a very refined model, but Socks doesn't seem to mind. It's a variation on the shoe box. He is more organised in the MCH, where his stash is separate from his sleeping quarters. No bits and bobs left lying around in there! Chambers are definitely the way to go.
