Shaggy Will Live On

Off to a sad start... My hamster died in 2022 after somehow escaping his enclosure then getting through a vent and got outside SOMEHOW??? (Like, literally... how did he get out there?????) and died by freezing up. But his soul will live on! I feel welcomed by this place :)

Hello & welcome to the forum.
I’m really sorry to hear about the sad loss of Shaggy that must have been really hard for you.

Welcome to the forum. I am so sorry to hear about Shaggy.

Very sorry to hear about your hamster. It must have been upsetting. Are you thinking of getting another hamster? It can take time to get over a loss but sometimes a new furry friend can bring joy again. And the preparing for it can be part of the pleasure too - setting up the cage in advance (an escape-proof one - hamsters can be great escape artists). Do you mean he got between the bars of the cage? Bars need to be 1cm or less in size, for a Syrian or dwarf hamster. For a Roborovski even than may not be small enough bar spacing.

Hello and welcome! So sorry to hear about the departure of your ham. Do you think you will be able to welcome another one in time?

Thank you, and I don't know if I will... I will think about it!

If you wish to you may like to write a tribute to Shaggy in the rainbow bridge thread.

I'm so sorry to hear of Shaggy's sad end.
You've tried and you loved him but now may not be a good time to get another hamster. I'd wait until you're able to get a secure cage and your cousins are a bit older and more sensible.

Was this quite recently? If so you must be very upset.

Good idea
