Ha ha Beryl. Generation Z - Zoomers. The generation following the millennials. Supposed to be the largest generation in history. Born after the late 90s 
. Not sure why it's called Z though! We have one at home (sometimes!). Age is no issue to hamster keeping! Although younger children need parental supervision. It's interesting as many people who had a hamster as a child go on to want to keep them as adults.

So what's in between boomers and zoomers? Millenials? And something else maybe. I know when I was at University it was supposed to be generation apathy! (Grew up during a recession). Not sure what the official name was.

There are quite a few very experienced hamster owners on here, so feel free to ask any questions you want! Hamsters all have different personalities, which makes it interesting. Some robos are very shy, some are more easily tamed and easier to interact with. I find they are very good for "conversations" through the cage! Our Robo will sit and look at me and listen for ages if I talk to him (our last one was the same). Whereas our Syrian will ignore me and do his own thing lol!
Do you think you can manage to set up a playpen area or section off a part of your room? I currently have a giant box I use as a playpen for our Robo. Which is just the right size (a drum kit came in it!). The problem is finding somewhere to keep the box. So sometimes just using the hallway if you shut all the doors and block some areas off can work.
I just thought I'd add a recent video of our robo in his playpen to give you an idea
. You can use anything for toys - kitchen roll inner tubes are good and tissue boxes etc - cardboard is your friend! Also if you check out Rainbow's thread under Roborovski Hamsters she has quite a few videos of Orko. And there are other Robo threads on there.

So were they robos as well? It's very difficult if you get sold a pair and find out one is actually male. Robos do produce incredibly fast and they can become fertile from four weeks old. I hope you managed to find homes for the babies.

sadly, i think my mom put most of them in one cage and when i came home from school they were all gone? idk what happened to them but i was young so please dont blame me.. I remember i got about two at the mall and then they just kept expanding from there but it was kinda weird cuz they were probably related with each other so idk but i'll make sure comet gets taken care of wayy better

I am sure you will take good care of Comet. Yes unfortunately robos will breed despite all being parent/child. The Mother can get pregnant from one of the boy babies when the boys get to 4 weeks old. They are all in together and it's a natural instinct. They are also so tiny that it's very hard to sex them when needing to separate boys from girls - even vets struggle sometimes. It's better to just keep the one robo to avoid that - but sadly pet shops often sell them in pairs as two girls or two boys and one turns out not to be what they think and babies appear. Animal rescues often help out if it becomes overwhelming and they keep breeding. So safer to just get the one robo

It's better not to keep them in pairs anyway as they can fall out and fight to the death (or one becomes bullied and gets smaller as the other one dominates the cage and food). It's very rare a pair can be kept together without fighting taking place. It's usually only very experienced owners or breeders who can manage that and it needs careful cage set ups so there are two of everything (so they can each have their own things rather than squabble over a wheel or a food bowl). Usually by the time they're a few months old that's when the fighting can start, as their hormones kick in. They are basically a territorial species. They do perfectly fine living on their own anyway and don't need company (other than a human companion!).
