I just got a hamster and his name is Martin!!! He's a long-haired Syrian male and he's only 30 days old, he's super cute!!!!! I got him this morning!! This is a really bad photo of him, but it's the only one I have so far because the second I got him home he went to sleep.

Hi and welcome. Sorry you didn't get a response earlier! Blame the weather ........ Are you sure he's only 30 days old? That is very young! Baby hamsters can be easily scared at first so best to take it slowly with him and also don't do any major clean outs or change anything in his enclosure for the first two weeks - unless there's a safety issue. Spot cleaning out the pee after a week is ok but don't worry too much about it that first couple of weeks if you can't find any.

Hi welcome to the forum, what a beautiful little hamster, Martin is very young! So nice and quiet steady care is needed! Just lots of patience for a while 🥰make sure he has fresh water and food every day! Just let him settle in 🥰 looking forward to seeing more pictures of Martin 🥰💕💞🐹🐾 Ness

It looks great, and you've been really creative there. If you made some of the house out of cardboard, maybe you could do a post showing how you made them?! We have a section called cardboard creations :-)

What a lovely boy. How great that he is already hand tame. I taught many of my hamsters to get into a mug or similar which I would then cover with my hand to prevent leaping out. They soon come to associate the mug with time out of the cage. One of my past hamsters, Arun (long haired black eyed cream) would literally leap into his carrying cup as soon as I opened the cage door. I soon learned to have it ready, close to the doorway!

Thats adorable! The minute I opened the front door of the cage Martin realized it was an exit and now, whenever I go near the cage he scampers to the front door :3
