Some hamsters end up being cuddly, some are very independent. How cuddly is your hamster (or previous hamsters) on a 1 to 10 rating? And any photos of hamsters having cuddles you have would be nice!
Our first hamster, Charlie (Syrian) was the cuddliest. He was definitely a whole family pet and loved the sound of our 6 year old's voice. He was I suppose, a bit lazy generally and quite shy, but he loved sitting for cuddles! He loved having his ears stroked. 10!
Second one Newt (Syrian) wasn't the slightest bit cuddly - he was always on the move, quite maverick. He would sit on my knee briefly if I fed him a piece of spaghetti but that was about it. He would rather climb on me to grab the food off my plate than sit for a cuddle! I'll give him a 3 because he did sit on a knee for spaghetti!
Nugget (Robo) sadly not cuddly - he was a very stressed rescue when he came and never hand tame, but totally adorable and would sit for long chats and listen and interact. 0 for cuddly but 10 for personality and intelligence!
Pickle (Syrian) A huge bundle of fur who should have been cuddly but was too shy for many cuddles. He was a very shy boy. But good at posing and an expert sofa climber! 5 for cuddles as he looked cuddly even if avoided them!
Moo (Syrian) Came as a 1 year old rescue and didn't like hands - he had a sweet personality but just wasn't really handleable as he was too nervous of hands. 1 for cuddles but 10 for good nature
Pip (Robo) Another rescue, also very timid. I was starting to get somewhere with taming him but not cuddly - typical fast robo
(Although I know we have an expert robo whisperer on here @Roborovskis r us so maybe my failing!) 1 for cuddles (he accepted being held for a few seconds) 10 for making me laugh a lot
Raffy (Syrian) Another rescue - who was initially a biter and scared of hands. Took a lot of time to become handleable but we got there. Incredibly lively maverick little boy who would accept being held for about 3 seconds, but latterly accepted strokes and cuddles for a minute or two. 7 for cuddles 10 for being so endearing and cheeky.
Tino (Syrian) - beautiful big cuddly boy. 10 for cuddles
Higgins (Syrian) current hamster - extremely fast and darty. Doesn't like sitting for cuddles but latterly has sat for ear stroking - 6.5 so far! But very cute.
