Today my sister in law came to visit Pete for the first time she is going to be his holiday auntie she has had hamsters in the past so I knew Pete would get very well looked after when I go away. What stunned me was Petes reaction to her I have just got to the stroking stage s-i-l starting by talking to Pete then we put him in his playpen and after a few minutes he went into a toilet roll tube sil picked it up Pete came out into her hand she did the two handed walk with him then gently held him whereby he sat up in her cupped hands and sorted out his whiskers he was so calm I was stunned she said it was because he didn't feel threatened by the way she handled him she showed me how it's done and although Pete did the hand walk with me he didn't want to sit but honestly nothing seems to phase this little guy sil said he would sense if I was nervous of handling him but now he's had a positive experience to keep reinforcing it daily just for a few minutes extending the time a sensing when he's had enough. Lots of other advice too but I don't want to write a book just really wanted to share my amazing experience my OH said Petes a real cool dude. Sorry no photos I forgot I was too engrossed.
