Hi! As it’s getting colder now I’m wondering if anybody has any suggestions on keeping my hamster, Tony warm? His room is about 17.8 degrees. I‘m not sure whether to add more substrate in and I’ve read about putting a fleece blanket at the bottom of the cage too. Has anybody got any thoughts/recommendations on perhaps a heat pad?

Thanks!

17.8 degrees is ok, you could put more substrate in if you can do that without distrupting his set up, nest or tunnels but it may be better to add something outside on the base, not inside the cage or on the bars (if it’s a barred cage).
There’s a recent thread on keeping them warm here that might give you some more ideas.

Okay, thanks very much! 🙂
