Leo

Oh he is beautiful! I had also heard Chinese hamsters were shy, but I've seen a few now where they're not shy. Maybe as you say, it's more skittishness. It's lovely he is enjoying his cage and will take food from your hand. I'd like to see a video of him racing round the cage sometime! He is clearly happy if he is being bold and cheeky!

It's lovely we now have three Chinese hamsters on the forum!

Leo has piled up lots of bedding outside the entrance to his house. I'm not sure if that means he wants it removed (it seems like clean bedding) or maybe he just wanted more privacy?

Aw lovely to hear about Leo again. I'm sure Elusive will know about that! My only experience of hamsters piling bedding in front of their house is - just the privacy and security of a blocked entrance! Or to keep draughts out but it's not exactly a cold time of year.

All my Chinese have blocked the entrance to the house or wherever they sleep, they usually create another entrance which could be at the end of a burrow anywhere, often on the other side of the cage somewhere, they really don’t like anyone to know where the entrance is!

Clive blocks his door to keep me out.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's something like that! Leo is friendly but also values his boundaries. So he'll take food from me and he's just started walking into a jar so I can take him out of the cage but he absolutely won't be touched.

I did the monthly spot clean today so he's not going to be very happy with me but it has to be done. He doesn't hold grudges for very long.

They really don’t like spot cleaning do they! I’m sure he’ll soon get over it though.
Will he walk onto your hand yet?

Leo comes running for his evening treats!

He got a bit cheeky near the end and tried to nip my finger. He knows he's not supposed to do that but he was annoyed that I didn't have food for him!
