The cage seems to be working for Lilly but i'm glad that i made this last minute alteration of installing an access ladder to the back shelf with the house.
I watched her running up and down the ladder to fetch bedding for her nest.

As always, Lilly knows what she wants. There are strips of plain white toilet paper on the shelf but for some reason they were not to Lilly's liking.

She has the ceramic mushroom she slept in from her hospital cage but i may have to exchange that for her small ceramic hide yet. I'll wait and see if she ignores it or not.

She had a corner with deeper bedding and a house in her hospital cage which remained almost untouched. She likes to sleep on a solid surface within a confined space which is so unusual for a dwarf.

I do find it can be hard to predict if a layout works for a hamster until seeing them use things. You are always spot on with your observations and know how to adjust things to your hamsters liking.

Good to hear the cage is working out well although I’m not at all surprised after all the care you put into getting things right.

I’m not sure it’s that unusual for them to sleep on a hard surface in a hide or something, all of mine did mostly sleep in a house with deep substrate but at least two of them also liked to make nests like that too.

Glad to hear she's back to her usual self :-) I bet she is loving her cage. It may take her a few days to work out what she wants where.

I'm under the impression Lily is OCD and likes her house exact 😀

I'm glad its not unusual for a dwarf to sleep the way Lilly choses to.

I watched her roll in the tube today making her racoon noise. I was wondering if she'd use the tube for that considering it's not suspended. Looks like it's the texture she's after to use as a back scratcher.

I bet she would like a loofa to scratch her back while she has a sand bath. 🛁

It's wonderful to see Lilly back to her former self. Up before the boys to find the prime pieces in the dig box.
I don't know what her future holds but whatever happens, i do know that the surgery gave her her life back.

We never really know what the future might bring but right now it looks like full steam ahead & nothing’s going to stop her!
I can imagine how relieved & happy you must be to see her back to her old self, it was a tough time but I really hope that is all behind her now & you can both enjoy the time ahead.

Lilly kept climbing on my feet in the hamster room so i set up the hall playground. She followed me out by my heel like a little dog, lol. She hasn't lost her knack to communicate what she wants.

I know that she has a new cage but she has now transported three lots of full pouches to her cage!

Aw, her love of food has returned! Sounds like she is making up for lost time. ;)

Yes, she had lost interest in food and foraging. She must have felt really unwell.

It really is so hard to tell with hamsters.

I think now that she is back to her usual self it shows how unlike herself she was. Luckily she is in your care and has made a full recovery.

It's lovely to see Lilly back to her old self and making up for lost time. She's a fighter and it's going to take a lot more than a lump and a operation to knock her off her feet 💕

Lovely to see Lilly back on form, speeding round. How funny that she’s pouching as much as she can to drop off in her new home, that’s so cute. Sounds like she’ll be settled into her new layout in no time at all 😊

She certainly has her energy back 😍

Lilly this morning.
Please note that this is not a 'poor little me stuck at home' hamster. She had been out twice to freeroam but couldn't come out a third time because i had to go out to help mice and a very old human.
