Mr Nibbles Diary

I've never heard of a hamster that doesn't like walnuts šŸ˜‚ I'd try the yippees and vitakraft sticks then. They love anything with a bit of sweetness. Honey is not as bad as sugar and I've never had any dental issues with hamsters from yippees and vitakraft sticks. Occasionally.

If he likes monkey nuts then maybe just stick to those and pumpkin seeds.

Sorry for suggesting chicken if you're vegetarian. Some people think hamsters are vegetarian but they're actually omnivores. They love meat! But there are other options.

Oh I don’t mind people eating meat šŸ˜… and occasionally I have a steak at my mums. I also drink milk and eat cheese and eggs.
I am not as fussy as Nibbles šŸ˜…
But he looks really good. His coat is shiny and he’s fully of energy, so I will try not to worry any longer.

Mr Nibbles works like a clockwork šŸ˜‚
Every evening he comes up for a treat when I clean his cage, goes back to bed and gets up half an hour later. He brings his snacks which he hadn’t eaten during the day back upstairs…
Then he stretches and starts cleaning himself. When he gets to the ā€œdiamondsā€ he usually has a poo šŸ™„ he picks it’s up and spits it away. Now I know this is common, but he spits it into the entrance of his house!!
As I can’t clean the house until I can take him out, I have had to be a bit inventive. When he is busy in his wheel, I fish the poop out with a long pair of tweezers šŸ˜‚ I will attach the video of his antics…

So funny - I can just imagine him picking up a poop and throwing it into his house :-) I would leave it personally - that is him tidying and deciding he wants the odd spare poop handy :-) They can actually eat their poops. They have two stomachs and can redigest nutrients from their poops so they like to have a few around as hard wired for food shortage.

Hi Nibbles here just wanted to say I am optimising my aiming… I don’t deliberately hit the porch šŸ™„
I got no nut today, I think mums broke! Caught her fishing out my poop with a stick, imagine that!
So I bought up my treasures, she can take one if she’s hungry.
I don’t want her to starve, who would clean my sticky wheel? I gave her a sniff today and put my paws on her arm šŸ˜ that made her so happy! I hope I get more nuts tomorrow. Bye for now and have a good spin on your wheels tonight šŸ˜„

Aw you sound like you're having a nice time Nibbles. Shame no nut today - was there a different treat instead? I bet Mum is very happy you put your paws on her.

I read about that šŸ˜„ he spits them so far it’s hilarious. Do you think
He’s saving them for a rainy day? I didn’t think of that…. Well
I fished about 10 out šŸ˜‚

Hello Maz my special friend 🫶 yeah I got a bit of veggies and some linseeds… but tell her I need nuts please šŸ™ she was really happy about the high five šŸ˜…

My Robin loves a piece of fresh cabbage, broccoli, apple, green bean and sweet peppers and peanuts without shells. My Penny loved broccoli, cabbage, blueberry's,monkey nuts and pepper.
Do you feed the broccoli raw? I haven’t tried that so far

Yes,we tend to buy those bags that have already prepared veg in them ,just for the hammies . Once opened you can store in water in an airtight container in the fridge. The lack of oxygen keeps the veg fresh for a few days. I just refresh the water every time I open the tub.

I have ordered dried courgettes and dried broccoli and flachs from a small German company today. I hope he likes them.
My friend came to visit me today, I cut her hair and we went for a nice walk through the village. Mr Nibbles hates visitors šŸ˜‚ he came up snatched his treat and went back down in his burrow. Clearly sending the: I disagree vibes šŸ˜‚

I don’t know if I can get those here, but I will have a look. Thank you, it sounds a good idea. Otherwise I will have to eat broccoli my self šŸ˜„

Raw veg is best if possible :-) We just get a broccoli head and pull the odd tiny floret off it. If kept in the fridge it keeps a while, but we do eat it as well. Other fresh veg I get in are cucumber (always a hit), baby corn (cut a little slice off). They last a few days and we eat the rest. Strawberry is always a big hit. Occasionally a pea but I give cooked peas (two usually if they're small).
