So, I have a bag of children's play sand I ordered online. I baked some of it it at 205 Celasius, sifted it, and put it in a container, only to discover a huge amount of dust emitting from it. I know dust can cause respiratory infections for hamsters. Is this normal for play sand? Is there something I can do to get rid of the dust or is the sand unusable for a hamster?

I would be cautious and avoid using it in hammy's cage. That's a pity. Nightangel sell good sand. Reptile sand is usually good as long as there's no added calcium in it. Yes, the dust does sound worrying. You could take a video of the dust and ask the seller for a refund, they might agree.
