Pip the Robo

It’s very good to hear that Pip has forgiven you and is back out in the open again.
A nose to nose chat is really special

I was going to start Pip's Metacam last night, but I couldn't get the top off the blooming bottle of Loxicom! I tried and tried - I pushed it down and twisted umpteen times - then tried pulling and twisting. Tried it with holding a tea towel. And gave up. I would like to have Metacam again, not Loxicom - I don't like the bottle cap on Loxicom! The Metacam one is slightly fiddly but not as bad as this.

Any tips? Other than breaking the cap to remove it.

I just googled it and read you have to twist it while opening somehow. Looks like lots of people struggle to open it.

That’s really frustrating, I hate some medicine bottles that seem impossible to get into!
Does it have one of those plastic rings that. needs to break at the bottom of the lid or is it one of the squeeze & push down at the same time type?

I googled it too and looked up the instructions and followed them, but it won't open.

Both I think. The plastic ring/seal is broken now it's been twisted. But pushing and twisting at the same time doesn't work either.

How silly to make it so difficult to open. I saw people on rabbit forums asking for help to open it too.

Have you tried gripping it with pliers?
Sometimes that does it, it is annoying, I had a bottle of essential oil like that once & ended up binning it because I couldn’t get the top off!

I was thinking that last night (faulty/binning it!). I was all set to phone the vet and ask for Metacam instead but it’s the weekend.

OH has got it off. It must take brute strength. I don’t want to put the top back on again now!

Thank goodness he was able to do it. I can understand why you do not want to put the top back on again. Hopefully it will be easier to remove next time.

OH clearly just has much more strength but it’s ridiculous it needs so much strength to get the top off! He did just the same as me but harder.

Just wondering if I can transfer it to a different bottle. Probably not a good idea as the inner top is designed to fit the syringe. If drawn up “loosely “ from a different bottle there would be more wastage.

It may be too difficult to use if you transfer it. Perhaps your OH could open it when you need to give some to Pip? I know that is not ideal.

Perhaps if I just sit the top on rather than screw it on. Vet said before that it doesn’t go off and lasts for ages.

It lives on a deep windowsill so should be ok but I know what you mean. Or I could just get OH to open it each time.

It last for six months once opened. Maybe you could put the whole bottle in an airtight container. I've been lucky so far and haven't had any faulty bottles.
