redness on back, maybe an allergy

He doesn't seem super obsessed with itching, no missing fur, or scabbing or blood. But his skin on his back is red enough maybe I should give him something for relief? Its been this way for a while but think its slowly gotten more sensitive. He's due for a bedding change as well.
 
It’s possible he could have an allergy to bedding - what bedding does he have at the moment? They can be allergic to any type of wood. Some have had issues with Carefreeh as well.

You could try switching to a paper based bedding like Kaytee clean and cosy. Hamsters really like it as well. For coziness and digging tunnels.

It would be better not to home treat him or put anything on it as that could do more harm than good. Try switching the bedding first and then see if it improves. If it doesn’t then you’d need a vet check for a diagnosis.
