Well, first of all, my own name is Anne (Or Annie!)
As some of you will have seen, my greatest 'hobby' (More a way of life or a vocation really) was running my rescue and rehab sanctuary. You may also notice that I usually talk in past tense regarding this, and the same thing regarding my basic hobbies of drawing, painting and writing poems. The reason for the 'past tense is that a number of years ago, I was diagnosed with the terminal, and incurable condition of Huntington's Disease. As the condition has progressed, bit by bit it began to affect everything, and slowly but surely started taking away the skills that I once had. I chose to close down and retire from my rescue and rehab work when I could tell that the H.D was about to start impacting the care I was able to provide for the animals that constantly came my way. I knew the time was approaching when potentially, I could do harm, rather than do good. I still have over 30 years of memories though, ( half of my life, I am an old gal of 60 years) I have those forever! And there are many I can share through videos, photos etc.
I will have a scoot through some photos and hopefully find some of my sketches and paintings to show you, and also, some of my poems if you would like that? Last thing I want to do is bore you! I am now at the stage where Huntington's means I can barely hand write, let alone paint or draw or sew, or any of the craft type things I once enjoyed, but again, I will never lose sight of the fact that once upon a time, I *could* do these things, and I will always be thankful!
So this is me, an older gal with memories to share, and current things too 🥰

That is a beautiful drawing. It must be very hard when you were so skilled at something, not to be able to do it any more. But I sometimes think of that old saying about doors closing and new doors opening. There can be new things to find (and hamsters keep us busy! They are very good listeners too I find!).

Bit of an old girls club here. I'm nearly 65 with a dodgy ticker.
You have lost some of your manual skills but you have a lot of experience with animals and living to share, something that is of immense value and interest.
Very much looking forward to hear and see more.

I am very sorry to hear you have Huntingtons. It must have been so hard to no longer be able to rescue but just think of all the animals you have saved and shown love and care to. You have helped so many and something so precious will always be special and remembered. I loved the poem you wrote about the pigeon you saved. It was so touching and beautiful.

I would love to see anything you would like to share. :)
