Rory asked to come out and run to the bathroom bin. I don't know why the hamsters have this fascination with that bin.

It may be he is letting you adjust to the idea gradually. Or maybe he is just feeling a bit mellow. Glad he had his porridge and metacam and foraged. He sounds like he is hamstering along at his own pace.Hmm. Rory looked very frail when i saw him earlier and appeared disorientated and a bit unsteady.
He came to his door for a stroke which was unusual. I hope he didn't say good bye.
Saying that, i've sat up with him for ages before thinking he was going to die that very night and then watched him running around on the floor the next evening.
I cleaned his toilet area in his house and checked that his nest was dry and cozy. He ate some porridge, took his metacam, foraged and had a drink. I just put a treat by his door and that's all i can do really.
He is in the bin cage at the moment but it is too small. A Grosvenor would be a better size and i could attach a little shelf to the bars to sit under, providing he picks up again. His ears were down tonight.Rather then get Rory a new cage perhaps your idea of a bin cage would be better and easier for you to access to clean his nest.
