Is this safe for a hamster?

I've always been told it's safe as it's wood, my little Luna chews it, so want to make sure its not dangerous?

Providing it doesn't have any large gaps (which the one on the photo seems to have) as hamsters have been known to get a foot trapped. However you can stuff the gaps with bedding or moss. There are also smooth bendy stick bridges available without gaps now - but they usually cost a bit more.

I'm a big fan of cork logs - they make a large tunnel and a bridge to climb over and an interesting texture. This place is great for them - you can choose the size and shape of the one you want and they have fast delivery.

I find you have to be careful with those log bridges as some are fine, and others have very large gaps and are unsafe. I only buy them in person rather than online these days, so I can inspect them first. Good brands like Rodipet or Getzoo are generally fine but the Pets at Home Woodlands brand is hit and miss. Of course you can always return it when it arrives if it's not suitable.

Thank you, I've stuffed bedding in the gaps so her little toes don't get stuck.

UPDATE: shes just destroyed another cardboard tissue roll lol

You'll need a good supply of those then :ROFLMAO:

What do you do with all the paper?

Well, its over time 200 rolls will last us months, so when we use one we keep it aside for her. 2 a week normally.

I have been known to pull all the paper off a roll to be able to use the tube 🤣.
