Sand Baths For a dwarf hamster.

It is good to offer a sand bath as it is a great form of enrichment. You can get sand specially for hamsters and need to find a safe brand without additives that is clean. I used Tiny Friends Farm sand to but there are other brands. If your dwarfie enjoys using his or her sand bath, it is well worth getting one.

Hello and welcome :-) Yes dwarf hamsters should have a sandbath. It doesn't have to be expensive. You can use something like an old ice-cream tub for example! However if you have deep bedding it will need something underneath the sand bath to support it, like a platform.

It also needs hamster-safe sand. Desert sand is popular and so is Komodo natural sand. Some people also buy a big cheap bag of childrens play sand from Argos although that can be a bit heavy. The main thing is that it's calcium-free if it's reptile sand.
