It is good to offer a sand bath as it is a great form of enrichment. You can get sand specially for hamsters and need to find a safe brand without additives that is clean. I used Tiny Friends Farm sand to but there are other brands. If your dwarfie enjoys using his or her sand bath, it is well worth getting one.
Hello and welcome Yes dwarf hamsters should have a sandbath. It doesn't have to be expensive. You can use something like an old ice-cream tub for example! However if you have deep bedding it will need something underneath the sand bath to support it, like a platform.
It also needs hamster-safe sand. Desert sand is popular and so is Komodo natural sand. Some people also buy a big cheap bag of childrens play sand from Argos although that can be a bit heavy. The main thing is that it's calcium-free if it's reptile sand.
