Scottie

I have no idea of his age but hope good food will make a difference. I once had a foster Robo who didn't grow and stayed the size of a baby. He's very well cared for, very active, tame, full of personality and incredibly small. Here's a photo.

Oh what an adorable little robo!

Orko was so tiny when he arrived and his ears and paws looked huge.

Scottie is a little monkey. Often, when i come home from work and have a quick chat with each hamster cage, Scottie is the only one who acknowledges me and comes running to the front.

I know what he wants and open the door to offer him a pumpkin seed which he takes. He then runs back to his tube to eat it and i wait and wait. After a while i call "Scottie, do you want another" but no Scottie appears.

Then, as soon as he hears me screwing the lid back on the jar he comes running to ask for another seed. So i unscrew it again and fish another seed out.

And then the whole game starts allover again. I'm convinced he does that on purpose.

Ha ha - I can just imagine. It's lovely he comes to greet you and knows you are the provider of Pumpkin seeds and I swear hamsters are hard wired to be contrary lol.

I love this so much! It sounds like a game for him. It reminds me of when babies drop their toy and get somebody to pick it up, once the person sits down they will drop it again!

It is isn't it?! :)

Sometimes i have to do some cleaning and Scottie doesn't like it.
I exchanged a tube for a clean one and took the back shelf out for a good wipe over.
I vacuumed around the grooves from the outside to get all the debris out and Scottie came running from the inside trying to chase the hoover nozzle off!
This is not typical Robo behaviour but he's always been like that.
Of course i had to take the wheel out to put the new tube in and while i was doing that he kept getting under my fingers running through the new tube while i was still fixing it into place.
The wheel is back in place once i got him to shift his butt out of the way and now he won't come out of it.

He's guarding it!

I’m still catching up with all the hams but what a great little character Scottie is! Love the attitude 😍

Scottie just took a piece of walnut from my fingers, ran off with it to his back shelf, dropped it and it fell out of the cage. I could tell the way he was looking down the cage.
Next thing he run back to the front and looked at me like he was trying to tell me.

I rolled the cage out of the corner to retrieve the nut and gave it back to Scottie.
That's him happily munching on the nut.

Aww, he looks so happy with his nut! How clever he is to try to tell you the nut fell and you are great at picking up on that too.

Aw - he really does interact with you doesn't he?! He's looking very cute there!

Yes, he does interact in a Robo way. I could also tell that he wanted his fresh food. He shows it with behaviours. It's like a sequence of behaviours but more subtle than his noisy morning demands for sunflower seeds.

Scottie was cluttering about for attention this morning so my OH gave him some mealworms.
I think that only annoyed him because he knew i was in the room.
Scottie kept running up and down the front ramp and kept poking his nose through the bars till i got up to give him his pumpkin seeds.

I wonder how he would have responded if your OH gave him his beloved sunflower seeds instead of mealworms.

My OH would chuck sunflower seeds in Scottie's cage, way too many of them.

They are fatty treats so i make them work for it and limit the number.
Scottie i hand feed them and the others need to find them while freeroaming.
If they don't want to come out i hide them in their cage.
I always hide a couple in Finley's tank because he won't come out or take them from me.

Had to laugh at Scottie just now.

I went into the room with the hoover, Scottie run to the front and looked at it, run to his bowl, grabbed the last piece of cucumber and run off to his tube with it.

I think he was worried i was going to hoover it up.

Lol how cute and funny! I can just imagine what he will say about it in the rolling robos thread. :ROFLMAO:
