A thought that maybe we could make some diy toys or treats for Easter :). Not involving chocolate obviously!

I like the idea of these - egg carton daffodils! Not sure about using pipecleaners though as they contain wire and could have sharp ends.

Hmm - my current egg boxes are green rather than the usual yellow ones! Green chick?! Definitely not green daffodils. Is anyone else making any Easter themed toys?

I'm thinking of a decorated cardboard cut out egg but so far haven't been able to draw an egg shape.
Oh! I'm just looking at oval Fossil tins. That will do.

That sounds good :-). I suppose a few cardboard egg shapes could make a kind of mobile/hanging boredom breaker even - if done carefully so not a hanging hazard! The difficulty is finding safe things to decorate with.

There's plenty to decorate and add colour with broken up yippees, seeds, nuts, treats etc. I couldn't give Lilly a mobile or a big egg because she'd scoff the lot!

Finding the time to decorate six eggs is another thing but i'll try. One thing i cannot do is to leave somebody out.

Hmm, maybe i'll skip work this week and live on beans on toast.....

I'm trying to think of a natural dye to give the glue paste some colour but can only think of beetroot juice from unpickled beetroot.

If it go purple, great but if it goes pink, i couldn't cope.
I'm still in recovery from the pink HH shelf.

I have heard of people buying vegan food colouring to make safe paint. Wouldnt plastikote work?

I think it would go pink :) It's very hard to find safe natural dyes. Only from food really. But plastikote would be ok :). I know tea and nettles have been used to make a natural green or brown colour, generally, and I would say that is safe, even if chewed.

I want to keep it natural without paint or food colouring. I'll think of something and probably attach a little egg to the bars and have a couple of bunnies pop up for the Robos.
In situations like that, six hamsters seem a lot.

Beetroot does go pink, purple carrots maybe! The only food I can think of that leaves a purple stain (on hands anyway) is aubergine skin.

I was looking at red cabbage today but still worried about pink.
The tea you mentioned. Is that green tea?

I forgot about red cabbage, that definitely doesn’t go pink, it’s more of a blue purple colour once it’s cooked & cooled so that should be safe!

Yep I have had red cabbage stained hands :-). More of a reddy purple maybe- darker if cooked.

Tea - I just meant normal brown tea :-). Tannin basically - like stains the inside of tea pots and tea cups! Boiled nettles make green.

That's amazing Beryl - it looks lovely. I haven't got far yet - still one day to go though. Looking at that reminded me I have run out of Yippees.
