Socks: Mouseworks Dynamic Cardboard Redesign and Basic Tunneling

Socks: Mom weighed me, I've put on 11g!
Mom: I think we're both pleased about this.
Socks: I've been training hard.
Mom: Don't let Socks know, but I've just bought him a new Trixie wheel. I'm hoping it will run nice and smoothly and Socks will really fly on it!
Socks still has some pink skin showing through his fur on his back, but it doesn't seem to worry him.

He's looking very happy there and well :-) I can't really see any pink skin. Lucky Socks getting a new wheel :-)

Good to see some more of Socks, such a pretty coat! He must know winter is coming, time to pig out and relax

Socks' new Trixie wheel has arrived! He was a bit cautious about the guard rails at first, anc I hold it for him to get into. Then had started walking and stopped and walked again for a bit very slowly. He got out and ran round his cage and then climbed back in the through and a gap half way up while I held it still for him. And then he cautiously stated scampering and got up to speed. Later I heard it rolling and he had got into it himself 🥰

Glad he likes his wheel 😊. Is it the 28cm or 32cm one? What happened to his other wheel?

Thank you! It's a 33cm wheel (I must measure it, but it seems pretty wide). I bought it on eBay. The Rolly is still OK but is a bit slow and pedestrian, although still very usable. It developed quite a loud rattle. The Trixie wheel is quite quiet.

A yes I forgot he had the Rolly wheel 😊. I’ve also found the trixie wheels quiet - Higgins has one. I’ve heard of people getting the occasional squeaky or rarely one but not very often - and if it is it can be exchanged. I bet Sicks is loving his new wheel 😊

Clever Socks in his new wheel. What a lucky little hammy to get such good toys.

Yes, he ran for a long time tonight! I couldn't work out how to attach it to the bars. The stand comes off easily, but the clip at the back doesn't seem to go between the bars.

It doesn't attach to the bars :-) You just leave the stand on and tie the stand to the bars with sisal string. That's what I did. So effectively the wheel is just sitting on top of the substrate, but can't fall over, sink or move, if the stand is tied to the bars. You did well to get the stand off - last time I tried to do that with one I couldn't get it off.

Thanks Maz, all becomes clear! I took the stand off, put it through the roof and reattached the heating wheel, but it fell off while I was sleeping. Socks was OK, but I got a bit of a fright finding the wheel lying face down against his dual chamber house. The way you do it makes alot more sense!
