This is the one we're hoping to upgrade to.Socks assessing the chew proofing of his new play pen (which he enjoys, although it needs more accessories)

I love this!!His play pen is busier than before and he is pretty good at working out routes through the boxes. He likes stomping around in the cereal box!
He's gorgeousWhy I need an extra hand: warning, this video displays acute cardboard chewing addiction
!
What's a ground nut in a cracked case?He was up at 4:30 this morning, meerkatting. I gave him a groundnut in a cracked shell and he took it into his main nest and slept for a bit. He was out for longer at 6:30, filled his cheeks and stored his "shopping" in his cellar. He took bits of food from me a strips of loo paper for his bed, had a good drink and went to bed! I don't think he did any bar biting, which is great.
Aw, thank you!He's gorgeous![]()
Thank youI love this!!
It's really nice and not heavy. The sides are nice and high (but Socks still tries to jump from boxes, hoping to get over them). The plastic is quite tough, but I have to supervise him to prevent him from chewing them on the sly. Grommit might not chew so much though. If any panels do get chewed you can order them individually. I use the floor in case Socks tries to wriggle underneath a panel as they are quite heavy and he could get stuck and then hurt himself trying to get out again, but you might have a different experience. I think Socks is trying to write the hamster's guide to escaping from anythingThis is the one we're hoping to upgrade to.![]()
Oh yes, we have those. Grommit bullies them till they open hahaThe monkey nutsI bought from Waitrose (aka squirrel nuts) have quite tough shells so I squeeze them between my fingers and the rim of the shell cracks just enough to see the nut inside. Socks finishes the job with his teeth quite enthusiastically, but shows very little interest in nuts that haven't been started. They are basically just peanuts in their shells. They grow along the ground.
That's good to know, I'm not sure if he'd nibble but I will use the floor too, just in case. Cheeky Socks! It's really nice and not heavy. Socks is a spoiled little mommy's hamsterOh yes, we have those. Grommit bullies them till they open haha
He looked very sweet, meerkatting patiently, and didn't seem to bar bite last night, which is great!Dinner yesterday featured a special item, newly sprouted sunflower seeds. Socks was delighted with what he had in his paws and ate it all on the spot. He had two (a gradual intro) and discretely dropped the empty bits of shell into his litter. He was up at 4:30am, meerkatting, took a few monkey nuts and then I went back to sleep and he filled his shopping bags and went into his nest to do some gentle crunching. There was a bit of crunching at 6am, but he stayed in his nest, probably the cereal box this morning.
