Where is the strangest place your hamster sleeps?

I'm asking because several times I have found Nibbles asleep with his body on top of the entrance to his burrow and his head inside the glass jar that's mainly a toilet 🤢.

Makes me wonder if he's trying to cool himself but it's already pretty cold and there are better places he could sleep!

Ah, very sweet! I have never seen Socks asleep really, although I have tried to think of ways of observing him as hamsters are so cute when they are snuggled up 🥰 I think a few owners have got quite a fright at the sight of their hamster "death napping", sleeping in a strange position. I think perhaps older hamsters might not do it so much as they don't just fall asleep whereas young hamsters just fall asleep wherever the need overtakes them 🛏️

I haven’t had that - mine have usually slept in or under a large house 😊. But I know some people have and thinking back, our first Syrian used to flop on the substrate looking dead sometimes! After a lot of wheel running. He’d run enthusiastically, leap out of the wheel and flop. It did worry me at first but he’d get up again. Dwarf hamsters can sleep in odd places sometimes.

If he’s young he’s maybe just falling asleep easily wherever he is, after using up energy 😊

Is he putting food in his toilet maybe? Or doing an ostrich?! Higgins sometimes dies an ostrich - as if you can’t see him if he puts his head in something.

Yeah I definitely got a fright as his head wasn't immediately visible and I wondered if it'd somehow got trapped under the jar! He naps all over the place, but probably sleeps most in his burrow. I hadn't realised that young hamsters might be more likely to fall asleep wherever they are - interesting!

Oh that kind of flopping would make me worry at first too!

Yep he's got tonnes of seeds stored in the toilet 🙈. Haven't seen him sleeping ostrich style yet, that'd be so cute 😁

Pete sometimes sleeps in a corner on top of the substrate also on top of his wooden box which is up on a shelf it's like he dosent like to miss anything going on in the room
