We're now getting the next hot spell in the Uk :-) As I've mentioned before, I like it, it's good for my joints! And relaxing. Higgins seems absolutely fine as well but our house is old with thick walls so doesn't get too hot inside.

The main issue I've been having the last couple of nights is - midges! In the house - I suppose from the slight window opening or the door being opened during the day but they come out at night - mainly in the bedroom and have been biting and making me itch and scratch! It's very unpleasant.

So I've just bought one of these - it is supposed to work for moths as well as midges and flies. We already have the tennis racket zapper for flies and fly papers in one room but hopefully this will get rid of midges - and maybe the odd moth as well!

Good for you Maz. Yes, I have been bitten by midges in Wales, my bites oozed and scabbed. They even bit me on my scalp. They are awful 🦟

These aren't the worst type - the pin dot midges that swarm - eg in Scotland and other northern parts. They are just tiny little flies. But there are too many and they make you itch.

How is everyone coping with the temperatures a few days later? It got much hotter where we are yesterday - maybe we’re behind the south. However it’s mainly upstairs that is unbearably hot and hard to sleep. To the point it triggered a bit of asthma with me last night but manageable. We had a bit of thunder and rain last night but today it’s very humid.

It’s now 23.2 degrees in our living room so up from yesterday but still fairly cool - however it’s airless - haven’t got a thermometer upstairs but it’s much hotter!

Hope everyone is doing ok. Think we might go to the supermarket where there is air conditioning! To cool off. It’s always freezing in there!

As well as midge bites on my arms I now have eczema as well with the heat 🙁. And some asthma. But I know others have it worse!

Just hope we don’t run out of water!

Poor Maz, yes, in some countries, places with air conditioning are putting out chairs and cold drinks as a refuge for people who need to get away from the heat 🙁

I find that if I apply a hot compress to a fresh bite, it can stop the allergic itching 🩹 Asthma must be horrible 🙁

It’s officially 30 degrees in our area today and we’re far north!

I grew up in a hot climate, but for people who are cold acclimated, this must be horrible 🙁

It's 75 degrees here in South wales at the moment ,but our thermometers are showing 30 indoors ,and that's with constant air rotation. Our kitchen is the coolest room at 26 degrees . I worked yesterday and just poured all day and like you ,my chest played up and my skin. We have two.massive.fans.rotstimg.the air in here and I keep swapping out Robin's ceramic stuff into the fridge and I have a cool pack up on the top. Poor Robin is hiding until around 10.30 at night too, normally she pops out in the day when I am home.

It's horrific ,I grew up in Yorkshire where is was common to have ice on the inside of your windows in the morning lol I have never gotten used to the slightly warmer temps "daan South"lol So I am.not.coping well, and I haven't.lived up North for 30 years

Oh, I hope it cools down soon 🙏❤️. You are doing a very good job of taking care of Robin. I'm on holiday for another week. Working in this weather, hard 😔 You are a hero 👍🐾

I am struggling with the heat and lack of sleep due to the heat. I'm glad I don't have a hamster at the moment - at least I only have to keep me cool.

It’s been way too hot in my house 🏡 I had bought reflective blinds which I’m sure do keep it cooler…but cooler definitely doesn’t mean cool! It was 27 degrees in my lounge last night 😫 I bought a sofa bed so I could sleep comfortably when it’s hot which has been helpful. Last night however I woke up at 3 am absolutely overheating and had to sit on the kitchen floor with the back door wide open trying to cool down 🤢 I’ve legged it to my mum and dad’s now as they have air con. I’m going to sleep in the lounge so I can have air con on all night 😁 My asthma has been really affected too by the heat…I play harmonica for lung health which is really helping tho!

Sorry to hear. I think housing is going to have a rethink, which is worrying. External shelter such as awnings and shutters might help. With my windows, the curtains reflect heat into the double glazing inside panel and it heats up and then heats the room 🙁 I read that uneven hot and cooler areas can cause a window panel to warp. 🏡 It's great that your folks can give you sanctuary 🧊 The harmonica is a great little instrument. I hope your asthma gets better soon 🙏❤️
