Hi! I am so excited I just got a Syrian hamster and his name is milk. I have been wanting a hamster for so long and it has finally happened. Let me know if I need to change anything in his enclosure. Also I have more sprays and clutter coming in the mail.

Hello and welcome :-) I can see why you called him Milk :-) He looks so happy and excited himself there. He is adorable. Your enclosure looks wonderful.

My main tip would be to give him a couple of weeks to fully settle into his enclosure without changing anything round or any clean outs (maybe spot clean any pee after a week if you can find/smell it! If not I wouldn't worry).

Adding the odd new thing is usually accepted fine as long as it doesn't mean moving things around or taking something away. They get territorial quite quickly!

After a couple of weeks you could start with some out of cage time and socialising. Unless he shows clear signs of wanting to come out before then. He must be so happy with his lovely environment :-)

I can't wait to hear more about Milk and his progress.

Thank you so much! He is already settling in and making burrows. He came out today during the day to collect some food and use the sand box, which I was very surprised about. I can already tell he is gonna be a friendly hamster. He is not skittish at all. Thank you for the advice as well!
