Rainbow suggested we had a list of vet's we've used and can recommend, which is a good idea! If people can add them to this thread. When there are quite a few I'll make it into a resource for the top resource section as well.
With hamsters it's usually best to see an exotic vet. Their pricing is not really different to a standard vet, but exotic vets know a lot more about hamsters - and probably better with unusual conditions or when it comes to surgery.
I'm aware people in the US sometimes have great difficulty finding a vet within a reasonable distance so any US members with recommendations for vets or animal hospitals, would be great.
I'll start off with mine:
Durham (North East) Uk
Gilmoor Vets, Gilesgate, Durham (they also have a practice in Sunderland and a smaller one in Spennymoor).
Exotic Vet is Deborah Stafford. There is only the one exotic vet so it depends which practice she is in on which day.
The practice is a lovely layout - not too big or too small, with a separate waiting area for small furries (so they don't get scared by the sights or sounds of other animals).
