Savic Plaza 120 online

Hopefully the housing market will pick up now Christmas is over and Spring is around the corner 🤞
That went over my head a bit! Housing market?

Sorry, I was trying to give Tulsi hope that her Hamsterless days might soon be over and she will have the house sold, free to hamster once more (I hope I've got that right, apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick) (Not a reference to hamsters moving to bigger premises and putting their old cages on the market!)

Ah I see - I thought Tulsi had already sold and moved :)

Tulsi will tell us!

Viking Laser have bought one so soon we should have tailor made Perspex panels available for it :) I used the standard plaza perspex panels on mine - there are gaps of course but I kept most of those round the back!

It's great they make those. I can't wait for Socks to move. He's eyeing up the plastic pieces on the HH roof. I don't think he can monkey bar and chew, but I'd be happier without them.

I’m excited for you! I love mine.

The Savic is here (and I am playing word games 😄) but I have got it out the box and wiped, ready to assemble. I am going to have a bit of lunch first. The box is big enough to use as a playpen, although, being cardboard, might get chewed before long. It's nice and big, but still manageable. The only thing is some places have little unsmoothed plastic end that need a bit of buffing to avoid possible scratches (underneath and in the middle of the platform) but otherwise so far it looks sturdy and symmetrical.

The little igloo is very cute!

Hurrah! I hope you enjoy setting it up. :)

That was quick! I would love to know how many they have sold in the first couple of days. That’s two I know of already (you and Viking Laser).

Socks is going to be so happy!

I clicked on click and collect to see if it was in my local store and was amazed to see it was! Although maybe they just get sent to the store when you order.

Yes, the staff said it had arrived today. They were pleased that Socks is getting well cared for (well, we will see what he thinks of his new cellar!) Setting it up takes a certain amount of stamina, but now that it is built I'm quite pleased with it. Suddenly we can fit all sorts of things into it. I'm debating the platform. The thing is if I needed to get him out in a hurry, I would have to start undoing screws, or pull him out, bedding and all. Quickly popping him and his nest into his carrier is much easier with a cardboard house. The fire escape is good here, with fire doors and plenty of time, but it's good to have him accessible just in case. On the other hand, the platform does increase the size of the cage.

I had a different platform mainly because I wanted to keep the layout the same when I upgraded Raffy from the standard plaza to the 120. Otherwise I would have used the green shelf as the cage still has plenty of space with it in (in the standard plaza the green shelf and ladder take up too much space.

So if it helps I had platform on the right side and house on the left side. So still fairly easy to get the hamster out. They tend to move into a dark house wherever you put it.

Feel free to post pictures when its set up if you would like any tips. It may take time to buy enough things to fill it.😊

It does take some time and thinking deciding how to set a cage up :-). Then it just sort of comes together or you know what you need.

Just to add - I am not particularly creative at setting up cages! I tend to go with platform one end, house the other end and wheel in the middle at the back - then add various boys and pieces and ramps or bendy bridges to access house roof etc.

I did once try having the house in the middle but that didn’t work very well as Raffy used to tunnel under it rather than walking over it and the wheel kept getting blocked up.

Thank you, I will post pictures. That is interesting, the amount of darkness is the key factor. I have an extra 10L of Fitch, but will have to tear up some loo paper to bump up the substrate. I have cardboard pellets, Carefresh and loo paper in the HH, but will Need more Carefresh or Fitch to properly fill the tray. It has high sides, so potential drops need to be cushioned. I like those sea grass hides, I want to get more of them. I have got an extra concertina tunnel and some cardboard boxes, one very long one that can be turned into an open top, or covered tunnel.
