Hi! I wanted to make a proper introduction to my hamster named George!
Homed: 9th of March 2024. He was 2 and a half months old at the time
Currently: 3 and a half months
Favourite veggie: Cucumber
Likes: free roam, cardboard hideouts, his wicker carrot
Dislikes: the light switch click noise
He is a very curious hamster that loves to explore ! Which is why his name George suits him like the tv show Curious George. My bf named him as he thought it was well fitted!
Owner: Weronika (pronounced Veronica, you may call me Nika)
I am a 22 year old graphic design college student and I always loved animals. I like gaming and drawing in my free time
Backstory: After my dogs and rabbits passing I felt really empty. I wanted a hamster very much again and it took a few months of convincing to be able to get him. I sadly made a mistake buying a 78 x 43cm cage that was told to me by the pet store that it was good size. One night I stumbled upon a video of bare minimums for a hamster and cried that I made a mistake. I wish I done my research before that. So I have taken extra shifts at work and got him a 100 x 50 x 50 tank.
(It is still a W.I.P, I have a few bits to come tomorrow and need to get more bedding and make a mesh lid)
I have since started to research so much and watching new hamster videos everyday improving my knowledge and being a better owner for my little guy! I wanted to join this forum in order to broaden my knowledge in the hamster community which started to become something I am passionate about :’)
Every information piece helps me to become a better owner and wanting to provide him what he deserves !

Really lovely photos. I think you should enter one in this month's photo competition! I'll link it below. I am so sorry you had that experience when getting a cage. It has happened to many people. I had the same issue with our first hamster and wasted a load of money and had to buy a bigger one. He will be very happy with the upgrade once you have it ready.
