Socks: Mouseworks Dynamic Cardboard Redesign and Basic Tunneling

Mom: Socks hasn't been out that much lately, not even at 3am 🙁
Socks: My training schedule has been a bit out lately. I always liked to keep it up. But now it's easier to stay in bed. Still, I was out last night.
Mom: I gave Socks a lift to the play pen.
Socks: I was having a drink from my bottle and I paused for a moment. Suddenly the hamster taxi tube swooped in, so, being a polite hamster, I stepped in and found myself in the play pen.
Mom: Socks walked around a bit, but ignored his wheel and spent most of his time staring into the corner.
Socks: thinking about chewing out, but not actually doing anything about it.
Mom: So I gave Socks a lift home again.
Socks: The taxi landed in front of my dinner bowl so I went through it and pouched some food. I can still carry my shopping home myself 🛒
Mom: Socks came out as soon as his veggie dinner arrived this evening 🥰
Socks: I have a great appetite and enjoy my dinner ❤️
 
Aw, it sounds like he is slowing down but enjoying his food. Could it be worth asking about his metacam dosage? It did seem quite low. Tino is currently on 0.03ml of dog metacam twice a day. He is a big hamster though and Raffy (about 170g) was on 0.02ml dog metacam. Just in case he has any pain maybe.
 
Yes, at the end of the month I hope to take him to Beaumont S Hospital to see a proper exotic vet. The other vets are good, but I don't think they have as much experience with rodents.

Socks: I've been turning up for my veggies sharpish.
Mom: I try to make his veggie dinner interesting 🥗
Socks: But today there was only some coriander in my tin lid bowl 🙁. I recalled hearing some guinea pig ultrasound earlier. Something like "I'm in a carrier, it must mean a visit to the vet 🙁
Mom: Polo has a URI 🙁
Socks: But Mom came back and I got my veggies 😀 I hope Polo will be OK 🐾❤️
Mom: Yes, he's wheezing and coughing, poor piggy 😷 I hope he will be OK too. He's a five and eating. I hope the antibiotics works 🙏❤️

I offered him some pumpkin seeds on the way back to bed but he said no thanks and went inside to carry on snoozing 🥰

He doesn't use his wheel at all any more. He is visibly aged and cautious, but still mobile. He climbs into his Trixie hamster loo and goes round and round and picks food from his tin lid veggie bowl and ceramic food bowl well, so he's doing OK, just old now but with the same sweet Socksie character he has always had 🥰

Mom: Socks has crossed the rainbow bridge 🌈 He was put to sleep after a brief period of not eating and generally deteriorating. It was an completely peaceful passing done extremely well at Vets4Pets.
Socks: Hey mom, Blossom has come to fetch me. We're going to scamper through the fields of heaven.

Mom: Love you too little Socksie ❤️
 
I’m sure that Blossom will have welcomed Socks with open paws and a big squeak, and will be showing off her handstands, and showing him all the best places to dig and forage 🌸❤️🧦

🥲 I am very sorry to hear that little Socks has gone. But he had so much love and such a good hamster mum 🫶 I am sending you a big virtual hug and strength to cope with the loss of your dear little furry friend. I feel very sad, although I never met Socks i loved reading his stories 🌺 rip little guy and I wish you a happy time over the 🌈 with lots of lush fields to run over and all the treats you loved
