Attached is a Hamster Fact File from the RSPCA. There are some very interesting things in there!
In particular:
It says there are 24 species of hamster! But only mentions the ones we already know.
Hamsters whiskers vibrate back and forth at up to 30 whisks per second.
Hamsters may emit ultrasonic calls.
Hamsters are capable of UV Vision (6) which is thought to be involved in social communication and improved twilight vision ......
