The article linked is from a US veterinary manual, and lists the various medical conditions hamsters can suffer from. While it's useful information it is fairly clinical and not the most fun reading! Don't worry, most hamsters live long healthy lives with good care, good diet and a good environment and it's often in old age they become susceptible to various disease. However, they are able to catch colds and flu from humans and if you have a cold or flu, it is better to stay away from them as much as possible while you're infections, and some can have a genetic predisposition sadly. If infectious You could ask someone else to put food and water out. If it's not possible to ask someone else then think about wearing a mask before putting the food and water out, and wash your hands first.
