64l really useful box emergency bin cage for short stay rescue hamsters. Could also be used as a hospital cage as no window to climb.20221001_171140.jpg

84l really useful box bin cage which is a good holiday cage for a Syrian or any species of hamster. Easy to transport with clip on handles. The tube is removable and can be closed off with end caps.20220904_171042.jpg

The Christmas Tree box bin cage is great (they all are). Can you link where you got the box from?

That’s good to know where to look anyway! I always used to say an Alaska cage worked out as cheap overall as a bin cage plus materials - except the Alaska is no longer available!

Yes - and now the Barney and Alaska aren't available, bin cages are probably the cheapest option again. There used to be a lot of people used bin cages at one time - so your bin cages will be a big help for ideas on here.

There are a lot of second hand Hamster Heavens, Alaskas, Criceti 15, Grosvenor and Plazas etc about though. Even detolfs are sometimes going cheap. Rescues are taking in animals people can no longer afford to keep because of the extreme rise in cost of living.

Now really is a good time to buy a good second hand cage.

Brilliant! You are clever. It can make a real difference having a front door in a bin cage. And who is that inspecting it on the left photo?!

Which hamster is it? I'm trying to work it out :) It's not Rory and it's not Clive.

Rodney. The old boy who has problems with his bowels on and off. The one i had to hamster proof the lounge and kitchen for because the downstairs hall playground wasn't enough for him. The one who chewed through the telephone cable which gave my OH the excuse to have a faster internet system installed with cables in his office only. He saw the bin cage while out on his evening stroll.

Ah yes Rodney - he sounds a real handful lol

I know, it's hard to keep track with so many. Even my OH told me once that the one with the glasses is up.

I just had this vision of a hamster wearing a pair of old fashioned round glasses and got the giggles.
My OH had forgotten Clive's name.

Aw that is such a lovely picture of Clive. My friend told me the other day that she pictures Orko wearing round glasses like Harry Potter and a broom so he can sweep his cage.
