A very busy girl tonight lol. I got her out for some out of cage time, but she just pouched a load of bedding and wanted to go back in her enclosure to add it to her nest lol. I thought some time out would run off some energy...but no lol

I just created my avatar. I was going to use a lovely picture of pink cherry blossom for my li’l Miss Blossom , but the Taz picture is so much more descriptive of what she is really like lol She is lovely, but she is a super speedy whirlwind who leaves a trail of destruction behind her

Apart from an initial exploration, Blossom shows no interest in her wheel or in burrowing. She likes foraging and pottering about her cage, but she LOVES egg boxes lol. So, I made her some toys this afternoon; egg box toadstools, a hanging egg box snake and an ice cream parlour (and what would an ice cream parlour be without some chopped nuts ) I also made some stars from corrugated card to see how she gets on with that

I don’t think she is…my husband comes to bed quite a bit later than me and hasn’t seen her use it either.

My hamster will not use his wheel if he knows we can see him. It is possible she is using her wheel when your husband goes to bed.

What size is the wheel? I was wondering if it could be she needs a different size.

I bought her a new Savic Giant Rolly as her first wheel was too small. She used it once! I put treats in there every day and she’ll hop in to retrieve them, and occasionally turns the wheel once round, but that’s it.

From googling, it seems the wheel is 10 inches. With Syrian hamsters usually 11 or 12 inch wheels are recommended. I know Blossom is still a baby but perhaps she would prefer a bigger wheel now.

Good idea to put treats in the wheel to get her to use it.

It measures 27.5 cm so should be big enough She certainly looks absolutely fine in it

The egg box boredom breakers look really great, I’m sure she’s going to love those.

It’s not long since you made changes to her enclosure so it may take her a while to start burrowing & making more use of deeper substrate.
She’s still quite young so the wheel should be big enough I would think, without a camera to see what they get up to it’s hard to know if they use the wheel or what they do, some will be more active much later in the night or very early hours of the morning so you may not be aware of her using it.
