The other thing is perhaps putting some bedding under the wheel to creat a bit of friction to slow it down. I wonder if that would work?

This is something we have thought about… But her pee spot is her wheel. It stinks a lot if we don’t clean it every 4-5 days. Is it possible to clean (with water and soap) a cork track or a wooden wheel? It is a long fall for a little hamster. Perhaps a wooden wheel would be better. The cork track could offer a much better grip and the heavier wheel might turn more slowly and predictably. It is difficult if you love running on your wheel but then it flips you off![]()
When we did that she isn’t able to make it spin and I think she doesn’t enjoy it as much…The other thing is perhaps putting some bedding under the wheel to creat a bit of friction to slow it down. I wonder if that would work?
Yeah she falls running so fast with centrifugal force… And she never has shown any damage. I’ve thought about getting the Silent Runner Wheel but it isn’t in Amazon Spain. And I don’t really like to buy another one since the one she has it’s new and we would have to through it awayHow does she fall in the wheel? Do you mean she goes so fast she spins right round with centrifugal force and then drops? If it is then I think a bigger wheel might solve thatI'm assuming she is active and no leg issues generally?
I don't think they usually hurt themselves falling inside the wheel but if it's still happening after a few months ..........A cork lined wheel would be a softer landing - you can plastikote wood wheels and the cork lining, so it's wipe clean. Alternatively you could try a 9" silent runner wheel - I have never heard of a hamster running too fast in those or being able to spin right round - they seem more interested in stopping to stick their heads out of the holes
They seem quite hard to find now - Amazon sell them at a silly price, but there is one from an ebay pet seller at a reasonable price. It's the glow in the dark one rather than the standard yellow one.

Amazon sell the cream coloured version, which is a bit deeper, but that's ok. It's more expensive because it includes the bar mount plates. If you wanted to attach it to bars. I actually think they run better attached to the bars. They are silent wheels and do spin well.

Do you have a link?? I live in Spain and it’s very hard to find some articlesYou could try the Savic Rolly Giant wheel. I've got one. It's plastic and washes well. No bearings, just a nut which you can use to finely adjust the speed. The hamster has to push it to get it going, but it turns well once underway![]()

I don’t care about the noise since she lives in another room and we don’t listen to her at nights. I’ll get it, thanks! The trixie 20cm one would be goodThe 28cm one might be too hard for her to push. It's not a silent wheel like the Silent Runner so although they spin fine, they don't spin quite so freely as a silent wheel so a big 28cm one would be hard for a dwarf to push possibly. They are usually very quiet if not silent. But you could just see how it goes with the current wheel.
How cute!!! Yes, I’ll post a video!Let us know how she gets onI think they get distracted by the holes on these type of weels and sometimes slow down to stop and check out the holes.
Thanks!!That looks fantastic, she is doing a great job slowing it down. I hope it keeps working for her, seems like a good fit
Yeah hahaha I think she wonders what are those wholesYou see - she keeps stopping to check out the holesShe looks to be loving her new wheel! I don't think the colour is that bad. You don't get to choose the colour. There is that colour, a lime green, black and a pinky orange colour. The only one I really wouldn't want is black. Did it not have the swirly sticker on the front in the middle?
Yeah and this one has two colours!! Mine is full blueAh it looks slightly different then. They maybe have different versions for different countries. The ones I've always had, have this swirly sticker in the middleAlthough I wasn't impressed when I found out it was only paper and started to come off when I washed the wheel!
