Bruce

Oh I meant it's normally a full dose once a day - I assume your dose is split over twice a day - ie so he gets it more often. But then 0.02ml once a day doesn't sound too off either. The vet may have decided the infection needs hitting hard and it needs a full dose twice a day. I suspect that's the case because tooth abscesses for humans are like this and need hitting hard as the infection can be trapped between a tooth root and the jaw. So if your vet has said twice a day at that dose then maybe you'd best just try and get that down him.

If you can find something he really likes and doesn't notice the meds in then I'm sure he'd eat it twice a day! Beef was the only thing that did it here! I think someone had some success dropping the meds on a bit of prawn cracker as well. Haven't tried that.
😆 Buying prawn crackers for my hamster 😆😆😆best excuse ever.

I think you would just break off a smaller piece of prawn cracker and drop the meds on it. I assume it soaks them up. I can't see how that would be a strong enough flavour to disguise it but you never know! Bruce sounds savvy!

Oh he definitely is. 😆
You should have heard him yesterday at the vets in the carrier after the abscess was cleaned. He was digging and hissing like mad!! I'm so glad hamsters don't speak. 😆🤣

I think we've had a bit better success tonight. Meds on a teeny bit of prawn cracker. He's eaten 95% of it. This boy is hard work. I also bought honey incase the prawn crackers fail. 🤣

I'm just glad he ate some!! 😆
These animals like to worry us. Also weirdly Bruce seems so much better to handle since the vets. He used to ping a lot when handled. But since the vets visit he seems calmer. So weird. The vet was really good handling him too especially when cleaning his abscess. Maybe he's decided I'm actually ok and he'll put up with me. 🤣

He's probably glad to be home and knows you're safer than the vet! Or - he knows you're looking after him :-)

This mornings meds went in a tiny cube of nectarine. Oh my goodness he ate the lot!! Seems to love it. I don't know if I should do a prawn cracker again tonight or more nectarine. (I know they can't have a lot of fruit normally)

That's great! Nectarine is very sweet - maybe that disguised it :-) Gourmet meds for Bruce :ROFLMAO: Bet he's loving it.

We went for a teeny bit of grape tonight. And success again (well until he saw me and legged it under his platform. 😆 I'm in the bad books I guess.) He seems to like fruit so at least I know I can get antibiotics in him that way. I darent use cucumber or peppers as that's his favourite and don't want to put him off them.

I got a look and he's looking a bit better. Hair loss where the affected area was but that's to be expected.

Bruce is finally finished his meds. 🎉
We also tried melon and plum and he ate both of those too. I need to try and get him out tonight to have a proper check on him. Fingers crossed we've beaten this. I also hope he's not up this morning looking for his fruit, sorry Bruce back to veggies for you. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Had a good look at Bruce this afternoon (he was up for a munch), I'm pleased to say he is looking so much better 😄. All redness has gone and looks like the hair is growing back. What a relief
