Lovely big sand bath

She really loves a good sand bath.

A new family member has joined the household. A lovely little pale grey dwarf hamster, I guess part campbells and half winter white. I have been preparing for her for sometime and at last she is with me.

She had a really good exploration of the cage and tried out her nightangel wheel, even sitting on it to have a wash xxx

She climbed up onto her house (brought with her by her foster mum) using the bars. She then explored her blue shelf which houses a bendy bridge, a lovely ceramic hide from her foster home, her water bowl and her food dishes. She ate some food and had a wash.

I put my hand slowly into the cage, from the top (she is used to a top access tank) and she had a little sniff but didn't take the proffered meal worm.

She explored for ages. Went into her bed and came out and explored some more.

I am overjoyed.

What a cutie! And great news, she is obviously taking a liking to her new home.

My little sweetie came out and about in her cage this morning and was all alert so I offered her the taxi tube (an old rodipet food tube) and in she went.

Once in the play cage she had a good look about and I felt a bit smug because I had made a bit of an effort to make it climb proof. I didn't stay smug for long!

She's an agile little hammy She's using the cardboard as a foothold, like a ladder. Naughty but smart

She's a cheeky monkey! You might need to cable tie the cardboard in place, but it looks like she shimmied up the gap between the cardboard panels anyway.

Yes. The cardboard wasn't fixed in place so no real surprise. She also shimmied up behind the grass mat later! She is clever.

I need to work out which acrylic panels I need to complete the cage. Either that or just treat myself to a new omlet cage (go on sale you lovely cages).

Thank you. It is so beautiful and I found it to be really sturdy unlike any other hamster cage in my experience. Feeling extravagant.
