Which wheel does he have at the moment? I don't think the Prevue cage comes with a wheel does it? It would need to be at least 10" diameter really. Ideally they need 11" or 12" diameter when fully grown, and they run much better in an 11" wheel.

Also do you have a link for where you got the Prevue cage please, as it's not available on Amazon.com any more. But I think exotic nutrition sell it under another name.
these are the measurements for the wheel:
8.6"L x 5.7"W x 11.8"H

It’s a Niteangel silent spinner wheel. I can upgrade his wheel but it’ll have to be when I get paid in a couple of weeks

So it's still being sold on Amazon.com, but not by Amazon themselves then.

i’m guessing so! it came packaged well and I haven’t had any problems with the cage thankfully!

what is the best camera for a bar wired cage? i’m thinking of getting one! :)

Hello!!!

I just adopted from Craigslist a hamster and named him Draco! He’s a long haired Syrian! What he is in is his carrying cage and I then put some bedding in there.
He's beautiful!

actually found an old livestream camera I used for my dog! I attached it to my cage where he can’t get to it. So excited!

I put his name on his cage and a harry potter sticker that I did from my cricut :)

What's a cricut? Lol. So happy he's enjoying his cage and it's lovely for you he is so young and active (and looks great!) It sounds like you might be having some interesting night videos! Does the camera record? And presumably you can view on your phone?

here is a picture :)

Yes it does!! i’m getting him a bigger wheel when I get paid. I’m gonna get him a 12 inch wheel :)

Do you know which wheel you'll get? The 12" silent runner (that's "runner" not "spinner" - it's the orange one with holes) comes with bar attachments so you can attach it to a barred cage at whatever height you want - I find that really helpful as then you can have it near the top of the cage and there's plenty of room for substrate underneath it. Oh and he will love a 12" wheel!

I like the sticker. Draco sounds like a big hamster. I know some Syrians are fine in an 11 inch wheel so I imagine Draco is quite big. Luckily you can get 12 inch wheels now.

that’s exactly the wheel i’m gonna get!!

Hi everyone!

I have another question. Sorry for all the questions!

What would be the best playpen for Draco? I can’t use the bathtub because my bathtub is unsafe for him.

Some people get ball pits from Amazon. Or you could just work out how to section off a part of a room so he can use that part of the room - checking it's hamster safe. That's not as easy as it sounds though and a playpen is a good start for taming.

This kind of thing (folds away)

Or these are good too - you can make it as big or small as you want - but they cost more and maybe more of a fiddle to take up and down?

thank you!! I was thinking about the first one! what about the barred ones? like the critter trail playpen? i’d be worried he’d climb the bars.

From what I've heard they can escape quite easily from the barred ones. With the fabric ones you'd have to watch for chewing but playpen time would be supervised anyway and haven't heard of chewing issues really.
